pic_5Finally they have come out with a vaccine to help fight cervical cancer. Gardasil, which helps protect against 4 types of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), has been questioned about sending out the wrong message to young girls. Some parents think they are completely safe from getting HPV, or worse yet cervical cancer.

That’s Not True!

There are still many other types of HPV, but the only way they will know that is if you educate them. Should parents be judged for giving this vaccine to their daughters? Does wanting to vaccinate your child, or yourself from a harmful disease tell young girls that “Hey, it’s ok to have sex?”

Is it “Amnesia” or Was I Just Not Paying Attention?

testpic_1 7 years ago I was in a bad car accident. I had a closed head injury. From that, I suffer with memory loss. With much therapy and time, I was told that the brain retrains itself. (Not completely, but some). I’ve gotten better over time, but I still can’t remember a lot of things. It’s sooo frustrating to me. I used to be the one that remembered everything; not anymore. Sometimes I wonder……..do I not remember because I wasn’t paying attention, or do I not remember because of the brain injury? I have many friends  who laugh it off and tell me they can’t remember alot of things, not because of any head trauma, but just because of age. LOL It’s really pretty funny, but when you’ve had a closed head injury, it’s not that easy to blow it off due to age. You’re always wondering if it’s the brain injury, or again, was I not paying attention? Am I alone in this or  have u ever had the same feelings?

testpic_2 Why? Why did my sister have to die before we realized how serious diabetes is? How did we not know about diabetes and the seriousness of it? Why were we never taught about this in school? From a very young age, we all find that we looove sugar and sweets, so why arn’t we taught about diabetes, instead of just being told that it’s not good for our teeth to have all that sugar? Why aren’t we taught about this deadly, horrifying disease?

pic_6When I was a young girl, I was suffering from fainting spells.  After a 2 week stay in the hospital and every test imaginable, I was diagnosed with a form of epilepsy. I was put on very strong medication for quite a few years. The doctors said eventually I would “outgrow” it.  They were right, I did. How does a person “outgrow” epilepsy?

Migraine or an Exagerated Headache

pic_7Migraine or headache? Some people feel a  headache is a headache. I say unless you’ve ever suffered with a migraine, you can’t even imagine what one is. If you pop some advil or aspirin, a headache is gone. When you have a migraine, you can be down for days. No advil, apirin or tylenol, will touch a migraine. I’ve been down for days with one. I’ve thrown up. I’ve needed complete bedrest and darkness and if  I’m lucky, it’ll go away within a few days. Why is it that we can send a man to the moon,  but we can’t find a cure for a migraine?

Why are Parents in Denial?

pic_81It’s not the worst thing in the world to find out your kid has autism. Yes, it’s horrible to find out that your child has to suffer from any disease, but to be in complete denial about it is even worse. What is wrong with these parents I’ve met over the years? Their children clearly have autism as all the symptoms are present; they socially are not connecting, they lack the ability to communicate properly if at all and a lack of interest in things, but the child is the one suffering every day that the parents don’t do something about it? What do you do? Do you sit back and keep your mouth shut in fear of an argument with the parent or do you say something in hopes that they might take action and get their child some help?
